Egypt Pushes BRICS Toward Stronger Economic Resilience
(MENAFN) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi urges stronger cooperation between BRICS members and partner states to improve economic resilience as the global economy faces accelerating changes and growing challenges.
Speaking during an open BRICS summit session in New Delhi on Sunday, Sisi said countries need to broaden their sources of economic growth, reinforce supply networks, invest in human capabilities and technology, and strengthen partnerships across the Global South to withstand global disruptions.
He emphasized Egypt’s interest in expanding collaboration in innovation and artificial intelligence, alongside technology transfer and the development of local technological capabilities. Such efforts, he said, can help developing nations gain greater advantages from the ongoing transformation driven by technology.
Sisi also stressed the importance of closer coordination on sustainability, particularly through greater investment in clean and renewable energy and more efficient resource use. He called for developing countries to receive improved access to both financing and advanced technologies to support their sustainable development goals.
The Egyptian president further pointed to his country’s efforts to develop ports, transportation corridors, and logistics infrastructure. He said the Suez Canal continues to play a central role in this network, serving as a vital international passage for global trade.
