West Bank: Armed Settlers Threaten Children, Attack Farmers
(MENAFN) A wave of violence swept the occupied West Bank on Sunday, with armed Israeli settlers threatening five Palestinian children at gunpoint, beating two farmers, and torching agricultural land in a string of separate incidents.
Footage released by a Palestinian TV channel captured one of the most alarming episodes: an armed settler in Beit Ummar, a town north of Hebron, aiming his weapon at five children outside a residential home. The video shows him shouting orders at the children and forcing them to raise their hands in the air.
East of Salfit, two Palestinian men were left injured after settlers attacked them with severe beatings while they were on their own land, the channel reported.
Farmland near the Ramallah-Nablus road was also targeted, with settlers setting fire to Palestinian-owned fields, according to the rights monitoring group Al-Baidar, which confirmed the blaze caused damage to the property.
A separate incursion unfolded in Deir Jarir, a village east of Ramallah, where settlers entered the community and opened fire close to residents' homes. Palestinian ammunition was discharged live rounds amid clashes with locals, according to an official news agency, though no casualties were reported from the confrontation.
The incidents add to a mounting toll of settler violence across the territory. The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission recorded 628 separate attacks throughout the West Bank — including in occupied East Jerusalem — during the month of August alone.
