Iran, UAE Pledge Closer Ties in Rare Meeting at BRICS Summit
(MENAFN) Iran and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to deepen bilateral relations and broaden cooperation, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced Sunday.
Pezeshkian made the announcement in New Delhi following a meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit.
"We agreed to move beyond the past and look to the future," Pezeshkian said, noting that both sides are working toward a shared understanding on how to build cooperation going forward.
The two leaders also discussed broader regional developments, focusing on efforts to defuse tensions and reinforce stability across the region.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which erupted in February following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. The confrontation has since expanded to include attacks on Iranian military, energy and economic infrastructure, as well as retaliatory Iranian strikes across the region.
