Alexandra Crosby

Alexandra Crosby is an internationally recognised scholar of Visual Communication and Design Anthropology. Her research is grounded in issues facing local communities in cities in Australia and Indonesia, and she synthesises methods from geography and anthropology into creative design responses to wicked social and environmental issues.
Since 2014, she has been co-leading Mapping Edges, a transdisciplinary research studio that focuses on social and ecological sustainability in cities. Mapping Edges is currently leading the 3-year ARC Discovery Project 'Surfacing urban wetlands in two urban renewal sites in Sydney'. Another major multiyear project, funded by The City of Sydney, is 'Water Stories' which uses design methods to map, materialise and activate social and environmental histories and practices of urban waterways.
