Sikorski Says Poland's And Ukraine's Security Closely Linked

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Sikorski said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv on Sunday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"This is not only a physical but also an ideological war for Putin. It is about restoring Russia's status as a special country that has the right to dominate others. Ukraine and Poland deny Russia the right to dominate them. This will not happen. We are fighting to ensure that Ukraine decides who has the right to be in Ukraine, not Putin," Sikorski said.

Sikorski also drew attention to today's Russian strikes near the Polish border, noting that they directly affect Poland's security. In his view, these attacks should serve as "final proof" for Polish society that "the security of Poland and Ukraine is closely linked."

"Let this be final proof for everyone in Poland that the security of Poland and Ukraine is closely linked, that demonstrating solidarity with every Ukrainian – those who come to Poland and those who live there – and with Ukraine as a whole means building solidarity between our nations," Sikorski said.

He warned against attempts to turn Poles against Ukrainians.

"We know what happens when they turn us against each other: they get praise from Medvedev, Putin's propagandists," Sikorski said.

As reported, an urgent meeting involving Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the minister of the interior and administration, the minister of national defense and representatives of the security services will be held in Poland on Sunday to discuss the security situation in the country following another series of Russian attacks in the immediate vicinity of Poland's borders.
