Israeli Forces Push Into Syria's Quneitra Province Near Ain al-Nouriyah

(MENAFN) Israeli military forces advanced Sunday into the Tal Ahmar area near the village of Ain al-Nouriyah, in the northern countryside of Syria's Quneitra province, according to a report from a Syrian state-run broadcaster.

The outlet's correspondent on the ground described a sizable armored contingent taking part in the incursion, saying the Israeli force consisted of three tanks, 12 military vehicles, and more than 10 armored personnel carriers moving into the area.

No further details were immediately available regarding the objective of the advance, how long the force intended to remain in the area, or whether any confrontation with local residents or Syrian security personnel occurred during the operation.

The movement adds to a pattern of repeated Israeli military activity along Syria's southern frontier in recent months, a region that has seen heightened tension and periodic incursions since the collapse of the previous Syrian government. Local and international monitors have yet to independently verify the scale or intent of Sunday's deployment.
