Zelenskyy Is Willing to Meet Putin at G20 Summit
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would be willing to travel to the United States and hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin if Washington invites Putin to attend the upcoming G20 summit.
“Yes, of course. We have to come. We have to meet, to speak and make decisions,” Zelenskyy said, according to reports, when asked about the possibility of such a meeting during a visit to Canada.
He emphasized that the specific exchange between the two leaders would be less important than what could emerge from their discussions, saying: “Results matter. That's it.”
Zelenskyy and Putin have met face-to-face only once, in December 2019, when they attended a Normandy-format summit in Paris.
“If he really wants to meet with Putin, Putin has previously said that he can fly to Moscow,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, according to reports, in response to Zelenskyy’s comments.
The G20 brings together leaders of major developed and developing economies for discussions on key global issues. The upcoming summit is scheduled to take place in Miami, Florida, on Dec. 14-15.
