Türkiye to Host COP31 Climate Summit in Antalya Nov. 9-20, 2026
(MENAFN) Türkiye will take the reins of global climate diplomacy next year, hosting the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) in the coastal city of Antalya from Nov. 9-20, 2026, the country's Communications Directorate confirmed Saturday.
Announcing the news on X, the U.S.-based social media platform, the directorate framed the summit as a milestone for Turkish diplomacy and environmental policy: "The heart of global climate diplomacy will beat in Türkiye. In line with the visionary environmental policies pursued under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) will be held under the presidency and hosted by our country from Nov. 9-20, 2026."
Türkiye will hold the COP presidency for the duration of the summit, positioning Ankara at the center of international negotiations on climate action.
Alongside the announcement, the Communications Directorate released a series of visuals detailing the goals of COP31, Antalya's role as host city, the priority issues set to dominate the agenda, and what the summit is expected to mean for Türkiye on the world stage.
