Türkiye Condemns Iraq-Launched Drone Attacks on Saudi Arabia
(MENAFN) Türkiye issued a sharp condemnation Saturday of drone strikes launched from Iraqi territory against Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Ministry announced.
"We condemn in the strongest terms the drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory targeting Saudi Arabia," the ministry said in a statement.
Ankara reaffirmed its backing of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, commending Saudi authorities for what it called a "restrained approach" intended to prevent further escalation in the region.
The ministry also welcomed Iraq's condemnation of the strikes and its swift move to launch an investigation to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible.
Türkiye renewed its call for an immediate halt to attacks endangering regional stability and security, urging all parties to steer clear of any actions that could inflame tensions further.
Saudi Arabia had earlier reported that its East-West Oil Pipeline was struck in drone attacks reportedly originating from Iraq, resulting in injuries and material damage.
Riyadh said it had opted, "at this stage not to respond" to the strikes at the request of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi, while reserving the right to take whatever measures necessary to protect its sovereignty and security.
