Iran Says US Strike On Commercial Vessel Kills One, Injures Three

(MENAFN) One person was killed and three others wounded early Sunday after an Iranian commercial vessel was reportedly struck by a US attack near Qeshm Island in southern Iran, according to a local official.

Qeshm Governor Amir Teymouri said the vessel was hit at around 5 a.m. local time in waters near Hengam Island and the Shib Deraz coast of Qeshm Island.

Iranian state media described the incident as an attack by the “US terrorist enemy.”

No additional information was immediately available regarding the vessel or the circumstances surrounding the reported strike.

In a separate incident, the UK Maritime Trade Operations said Sunday that another vessel traveling through the Strait of Hormuz had been hit by an unidentified munition. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.
