Turkish Warships Hold Drills in Indian Ocean En Route to Somalia
(MENAFN) Two Turkish naval ships carried out training exercises in the Indian Ocean as they made their way toward Somalia, Türkiye's National Defense Ministry announced Saturday, underscoring Ankara's continued naval engagement in the region.
In a statement posted to the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, the ministry said: “TCG Kemalreis and TCG Yzb. Gungor Durmus, which are deploying to Somalia as part of the Somali Naval Task Group activities, conducted training exercises in the Indian Ocean.”
The vessels' voyage forms part of broader efforts tied to the Somali Naval Task Group, reflecting ongoing maritime cooperation between the two nations. The ministry accompanied its announcement with a set of photographs documenting the exercises, offering a visual glimpse into the training activities conducted during the deployment.
