Dortmund Stay Perfect With 3-0 Win Over Paderborn; Freiburg Tops Table
(MENAFN) Borussia Dortmund kept their flawless start to the Bundesliga season intact, cruising to a 3-0 home victory over newly promoted Paderborn on Saturday.
Dortmund struck early through Fabio Silva, who finished a rapid counterattack in the fifth minute with a right-footed strike from the center of the box after being set up by Serhou Guirassy. The hosts carried their 1-0 lead into the break but didn't extend it until late in the match.
Felix Nmecha doubled Dortmund's advantage in the 80th minute, converting a pass from Maximilian Beier, before adding a spectacular bicycle-kick finish nine minutes later off a cross from Marcel Sabitzer to complete his brace and put the game to bed at 3-0.
The win gives Dortmund three victories from three matches and nine points, though they remain second in the table behind Freiburg on goal difference. Paderborn are stuck on one point and have yet to score a league goal this season.
Freiburg Blitz Gladbach 5-0; Leverkusen Held by Augsburg
Freiburg also preserved their perfect record, thrashing Borussia Monchengladbach 5-0 at home to leapfrog Dortmund into first place on goal difference.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen were held to a 2-2 draw away at Augsburg, while Hoffenheim beat Stuttgart 2-1. Eintracht Frankfurt picked up their first win of the season, defeating Mainz 3-1 on the road behind a brace from Can Uzun.
