Russia Says US Economic Cooperation Mechanisms Remain Absent

(MENAFN) Russia says there are currently no established mechanisms for restarting trade and economic cooperation with the United States, despite recognizing that renewed business ties could provide substantial benefits to both sides.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says there is considerable interest among companies in resuming economic engagement, but no practical framework or joint initiatives have yet emerged.

“At the corporate level, at least, we see a great deal of interest. However, in practical terms, there are currently no cooperation mechanisms in place, nor have any joint projects been implemented,” Peskov said.

He also says it remains uncertain whether Moscow and Washington will establish economic partnerships or launch joint projects while the Russia-Ukraine war continues.

Peskov acknowledges ongoing US efforts aimed at promoting peace, saying Russia is “very grateful” for those efforts.

“We sincerely hope that these efforts will bear fruit,” he added.

In separate remarks, Peskov reiterates Moscow's opposition to the deployment of a European military force in Ukraine, stressing that Russia has made its position clear to European countries and the wider international community.

“This is not a red line; it is Russia’s position – one that has been conveyed to the entire world, and to Europeans in particular, in an extremely concrete and clear manner,” he said.
