Trump Signals Iran War Could End Soon

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump says the conflict with Iran could come to an end “very soon,” while accusing Tehran of attempting to prolong the war for political reasons.

Speaking after meeting Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin during his visit to Ireland, Trump says he expects the fighting to end in the near future and again insists that Iran must not be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon.

“I think very soon,” Trump said when asked when the war would end. “I think it'll be probably right after election times.”

Trump claims Iran is seeking to delay the conflict in an effort to affect the outcome of elections, alleging that Tehran is trying to “hold out as long as they can to complicate the election.”

“Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. It's very simple,” he said, while predicting that oil prices would drop significantly once the fighting comes to an end.

Trump also comments on the security situation in the Red Sea, saying Yemen's Houthis have reached out to the United States and signaled that they do not want a confrontation with Washington.
