(MENAFN- UkrinForm) That is according to DW, citing Welt am Sonntag, Ukrinform reports.

According to the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, the investigation established that a person who is believed to be a GRU officer was behind the logistics of the entire operation.

This information prompted the German government to hold Russia responsible for the attempted terrorist attack involving a drone.

According to sources close to the investigation, the suspects in the case are Russian national Oleg L. and Belarusian national Andrei K.

According to the information, Oleg L. organized the preparation and logistics of the operation.

Investigators say he entered Germany via Turkey and later left through Berlin Brandenburg Airport, heading for Serbia.

According to the news outlet, German security authorities already knew when he entered the country that the Russian national was linked to the GRU, but no surveillance was placed on him after his entry. The newspaper reports that he is currently believed to be in Russia.

Investigators believe that the explosives used in Leipzig may have entered Germany via Bulgaria and Serbia.
