Firing At Hindu Outfit Chief's Home In Bihar's Vaishali Probe On


(MENAFN- IANS) Patna, Sep 13 (IANS) Unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire outside the residence of the national president of a Hindu organisation in Bihar's Vaishali district, officials said on Sunday. No casualties have been reported.

The incident took place late on Saturday night in Adalpur village of Vaishali district, where unidentified criminals allegedly targeted the house of Rajiv Brahmarshi, national president of the Hindu Putra Sangthan.

According to reports, the unidentified assailants fired approximately 10 rounds outside Brahmarshi's residence before fleeing the scene. Bullet marks were found on the main gate and windows of the house, indicating the intensity of the firing.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the firing and began examining the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Police recovered 10 empty shell casings from the scene, which are being examined as part of the investigation into the shooting.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, Vaishali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shubhank Mishra personally reached the spot along with a heavy police force and took charge of the investigation.

Under the SSP's supervision, police teams are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the area. Officials said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the assailants involved in the firing.

Police are also investigating the possible motive behind the incident and are examining all available evidence to establish the circumstances that led to the late-night shooting.

The incident comes a day after the husband of a District Council member was shot dead while he was out for his morning walk in Sitamarhi district on Saturday.

The incident took place in Ketharia village, under the Dumra police station area. The deceased was identified as Baidyanath Mahato.

According to officials, Mahato had left his residence for his routine morning walk on Saturday when unidentified criminals travelling on a motorcycle allegedly targeted him.

He sustained serious injuries in the shooting, collapsed at the spot and later died from his injuries.
