“Estonia has been a strategic partner of the Zhytomyr region since 2022. We are implementing many projects here, including the restoration of buildings, and we are also devoting considerable effort to supporting education, because that is our future. Estonia is an innovative country in terms of education, and we have developed a training methodology for Ukrainian teachers so that they can adopt it to support children's development and share it with other teachers. Children can learn in new ways, particularly through the use of technology and interactive tools,” noted Tsahkna.

Andrea Kivi, Executive Director of the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV), explained that 330,000 euros were allocated for the project. The funds were used for renovation work and training sessions for educators.

“The most important thing is not the building or the equipment, but the educators. The 'EDUHUB' center will become a home for educators, where they can learn something new and teach children. We are investing in people because they are our future,” Kivi added.

The 125-square-meter“EDUHUB” space was created at Zhytomyr Preschool No. 25 as part of the project“Development of the Zhytomyr Center for Methodological Competence in Preschool Education” with financial support from the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV), the Principality of Liechtenstein, and the city of Tallinn. The project was carried out in partnership with the Zhytomyr City Council. The Tallinn Teachers' House served as the implementing partner.

The education hub will serve as a venue for teacher professional development, the exchange of experiences, and the testing of early childhood education methodologies. Among its main areas of focus are STEAM education, learning through play, the development of practical skills in children, and the basics of first aid.

“EDUHUB” is equipped with STEAM materials and robotics, first-aid training kits, digital and interactive tools, as well as resources to support inclusive education and work with children with special educational needs.

As part of the project, 19 teacher-mentors from preschool institutions in Zhytomyr were trained; they will go on to train their colleagues and help spread modern educational approaches to other institutions in the city.

A separate focus of the educational space will be a library of educational resources, which will bring together teaching materials, digital resources, robotics, and other technical and instructional tools that preschool teachers in the city will be able to use.

As reported by Ukrinform, a rehabilitation center will be built at the city hospital in Zviahel, Zhytomyr region, with support from Estonia.
