Ghazni Residents Raise Concerns Over Increasing Stray Dogs

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) "> GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Residents of the 5th municipal district of Ghazni city, the capital of southern Ghazni province, have raised concerns over the increasing number of stray dogs, saying they pose a threat to people, particularly children.

Ghulam Mustafa, a resident and tribal elder from the Qadam Qala area, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the growing number of stray dogs had made it difficult for children to travel safely to school and for residents to move around the area at night.

“People are suffering a lot because of stray dogs, particularly at night, when they cannot travel safely,” he said.

Farzad, another resident, said a schoolgirl was bitten by stray dogs two days ago.

He said similar dog-bite incidents had occurred in the area previously, raising concerns among families about their children's safety.

Meanwhile, Ghazni Municipality spokesman Abdul Wali Jalalzi acknowledged the problem and said the municipality had previously carried out several campaigns to collect stray dogs from different parts of the city.

He added that the municipality had recently received dozens of complaints about stray dogs and was working to launch collection campaigns in the affected areas.

Residents of Qadam Qala have previously raised similar concerns about the increasing number of stray dogs. People in other parts of Ghazni city have also repeatedly reported the problem to the media.
