Russia Attacks Zaporizhstal For Third Time Over Past Month, Four Injured

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The company reported this on its website, according to Ukrinform.

"Overnight into September 12, Russia attacked Zaporizhstal for the third time in the past month with ballistic missiles. Four missiles hit the company's production site, which has still not resumed operations following the previous strikes on August 11 and 27. Four employees were injured," the company said.

Metinvest Group Chief Operating Officer Oleksandr Myronenko stressed that Zaporizhstal produced pig iron and steel for civilian needs. The plant did not manufacture products for military purposes and did not have anything on its premises that could make it a military target. The company has still not resumed production following the August 11 and 27 strikes. "And even this did not stop another attack."

"The scale of destruction is increasing with every strike. It is currently impossible to make a final assessment, but preliminarily, we are classifying the damage as critical," Myronenko said.

The attack damaged the main and auxiliary equipment of the blast furnace and open-hearth shops, as well as the plant's power system, networks and logistics infrastructure.

Since production processes at the plant had not been operating following the previous attacks, there is no threat of a man-made disaster, Zaporizhstal said.

The number of personnel at the plant was significantly limited.

One of those injured received first aid and was examined by medical personnel at the plant before refusing hospitalization and staying to help eliminate the consequences of the strike.

Another three employees were hospitalized with moderate injuries after receiving first aid.

Work to eliminate the consequences of the strike and inspect the damaged facilities is ongoing at the plant, which is necessary to determine the nature and extent of the destruction.

Overnight into September 12, Russian forces launched a missile strike on the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih plant, killing two people and injuring four.
