Yemen's Government Forces Repel Major Houthi Assault in Oil-Rich Marib
(MENAFN) Yemeni government troops beat back a large-scale Houthi offensive in the oil-rich central province of Marib on Saturday, according to local media reports.
The government-aligned West Coast news website reported that government forces pushed back the attack in the Al-Mashjah and Al-Zour areas west of Marib, though it offered no additional details on the clash. Neither government forces nor the Houthis have issued an official statement confirming the incident.
The skirmish adds to an already active front line, with fighting between government troops and the Houthis continuing across multiple provinces — Marib, Al-Jawf, Taiz, Al-Dhale and Al-Bayda among them. Separately, social media activists have circulated footage purportedly showing dozens of Houthi fighters killed or captured during clashes Friday along several fronts bordering Marib.
