Saudi Arabia Lifts 'Potential Danger' Alert for Khamis Mushait

(MENAFN) Saudi authorities announced Friday that a "potential danger" warning issued for the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait has been lifted. The Civil Defense agency, posting on X, urged residents to keep following safety guidance regardless — specifically to avoid crowding or filming incident locations.

The now-expired alert had directed residents to seek shelter, avoid windows and stay indoors until the danger cleared. It was one of two warnings the National Early Warning Platform issued Thursday, the other covering the nearby city of Abha.

The alerts coincided with intensifying combat in neighboring Yemen, where Houthi forces claim to have seized key territory near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, including the Hays and Al-Khawkhah districts in Al-Hudaydah province. Clashes between government troops and Houthi fighters have also flared across the Taiz, Al-Jawf and Al-Bayda fronts, accompanied by airstrikes on Houthi positions. The conflict has raged since Houthi forces overran Sanaa and other provinces in 2014, prompting a Saudi-led military coalition to intervene in 2015.
