Yemeni Air Force Strikes Houthi Targets Near Mocha, Dhubab
(MENAFN) Yemen's armed forces confirmed Friday that the Yemeni Air Force conducted a fresh round of airstrikes against Houthi positions in the Mocha and Dhubab area. Brig. Gen. Majid Abdullah al-Nuzaili, the armed forces' official spokesman, said on X that the strikes destroyed vehicles and weapons and killed Houthi fighters near Mocha's port and close to the Zaid al-Kharj mall in the city.
Additional militants were reported killed near a water project administration site in Mocha, while strikes also hit vehicle and fighter concentrations at an animal quarantine facility roughly 11 kilometers along the Mocha-Dhubab road. Al-Nuzaili said further Houthi groupings were eliminated at a former military leader's ex-headquarters on Mocha's northern ring road. No further details were immediately available.
The strikes mark renewed hostilities after a relative lull since 2022, capping nearly 12 years of war between Saudi-backed government forces and Iran-aligned Houthi fighters, who overran Sanaa and large swaths of the country in 2014. Since the Gaza war's outbreak in late 2023, the Houthis have widened their regional footprint, striking Israel and Red Sea commercial shipping — fueling growing fears of a slide back into full-blown war in Yemen.
