Al Jabal Al Akhdar Named GCC Tourism Capital
Known especially for its mountains, the region has exceptional natural scenery, unique cultural and agricultural heritage, and offers experiences combining adventure and relaxation with local hospitality. The nomination was based on a dossier prepared by Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism detailing the region's natural, environmental, cultural and heritage assets, as well as investment opportunities.
Minister of Heritage and Tourism Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi said Al Jabal Al Akhdar has recorded growth in tourist numbers, alongside the expansion of investments, projects, developments, accommodation, activities and experiences. The ministry's Undersecretary for Tourism, Azzan Qasim Al Busaidi, said the title will be turned into an integrated tourism program throughout 2027, combining high-quality events, seasonal experiences and promotional campaigns.
