BOPEE Opens 4 MBBS Seats For Terror Victims' Wards

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has invited offline applications for allocation of four MBBS seats from the Central Pool for spouses and children of terror victims for the academic session 2026-27.

According to a notification issued by BOPEE, one seat has been earmarked at A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya, Bihar, one at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, Maharashtra, and two at Pt JNM Medical College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Candidates must be permanent residents of the Union Territory of J&K and must be either the spouse or child of a deceased or disabled civilian victim of terrorism. Applicants must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or attain the age on or before December 31 of the year of admission.

As per National Medical Commission (NMC) norms, candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually, with the prescribed marks in PCB for the respective categories, besides qualifying the NEET-UG 2026 examination.

Selection will be based on the rank obtained in NEET-UG 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The notification clarified that the Ministry of Home Affairs will not conduct any separate examination for the seats.

It further stated that mere submission of an application would not confer any right to selection, which would be made by the concerned Ministry as per applicable rules. The reservation policy of the UT of J&K would apply to the Central Pool MBBS seats.

Under the prescribed priority criteria, first preference will be given to children whose both parents have been killed by terrorists. The second priority will be given to children of families whose sole breadwinner was killed by terrorists, followed by wards of victims who suffered permanent disability and serious injuries due to terrorist operations.

The benefit under Priority I or II is restricted to only one ward of a family.

Applicants are required to submit documents including Domicile Certificate, NEET Score Card, Class 12 marks card, Date of Birth Certificate and Category Certificate, wherever applicable.

Additional documents include FIR, Death Certificate, Postmortem Report and an affidavit stating that no other family member has availed the benefit under the category.

For Priority II, applicants are required to submit a certificate confirming that the deceased was the sole breadwinner, issued by the concerned SHO and hospital authorities and duly countersigned by the SSP and Tehsildar concerned and authenticated by the Administrative Secretary, Home Department.

For Priority III, a certificate confirming the nature of injury and disability, issued or verified by the State Police or Home Department, is required.

The last date for submission of applications in duplicate, physically at the BOPEE offices in Jammu or Srinagar, is September 15 up to 4 pm. (GNS)
