Dry Weather To Prevail Across J&K For Next 10 Days: Met

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience mainly dry weather over the next 10 days, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers expected at isolated and scattered places, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said on Friday.

According to the weather department, generally dry conditions are expected on September 12 and 13, although brief spells of rain may occur at isolated places.

From September 14 to 16, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and forenoon hours.

The weather is likely to remain generally dry again from September 17 to 21, with the possibility of brief rain at isolated places.

The department advised farmers to continue harvesting apples and paddy and carry out other agricultural activities.

Meanwhile, temperatures remained above normal at several places across J&K on Friday.

Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius, which was 5 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 16.4 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees above normal.

Qazigund recorded a maximum of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.5 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded 27.8 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 32.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 13.4 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag recorded a maximum of 30.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded 24 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius as its maximum and minimum temperatures, respectively.

Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 25.4 degrees Celsius.

Among other stations, Banihal recorded a maximum of 28.6 degrees Celsius, Batote 27.7 degrees Celsius, Katra 31 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 29.9 degrees Celsius.

No significant rainfall was recorded at the listed stations during the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Friday, the weather department said.
