Heavy Rain Threat Looms Over KP, PDMA Orders Precautionary Measures


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has forecast rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in various districts of the province from September 14 to 17. It has warned of possible flash floods and landslides in upper areas due to heavy rainfall.

According to PDMA, there is a risk of landslides in the upper districts of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad. Low-lying areas of Peshawar, Mardan and Swabi are also at risk of urban flooding.

In view of the weather situation, PDMA has directed all district administrations to take precautionary measures in advance. They have also been asked to ensure continuous monitoring of rivers, streams and rainwater channels.

PDMA has instructed relevant departments to take immediate steps to keep drainage systems clean and functional. It also stressed ensuring the availability of rescue personnel and necessary equipment to deal with any possible emergency.

The authority has advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise extra caution during the rain. The public has been urged to take shelter in safe places during thunderstorms and stay away from power lines and other hazardous objects.
