Today, Principal Secretary State Department for Basic Education, John Ololtuaa, joined Kenya Government Spokesperson Charles Owino, alongside PS Stephen Isaboke (State Department for Broadcasting & Telecommunications) and PS Ismail Maalim Madey (State Department for Special Programmes), at a press briefing to update Kenyans on the government's El Niño Preparedness and Response Plan ahead of the anticipated rains from October to December.
PS Ololtuaa assured students, teachers and parents that the Ministry of Education, through KNEC, has an Emergency Response Plan in place for the examination period. He noted that mapping is underway across all counties to ensure that examination materials are secured and well-positioned, that supplies for the school feeding programme are in order, and that appropriate mitigation measures are ready should any areas be affected by the anticipated rains.
The Ministry remains committed to ensuring that learning and examinations proceed smoothly, safely and without disruption during this period.
