Dubai, United Arab Emirates, September 2026: As a new cohort of students prepares to begin university this September, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai Campus is expanding the traditional orientation format to provide students with essential information, academic guidance and opportunities to engage with the university community as they begin their studies.

Beginning on 14 September, the programme will move beyond the conventional orientation format by dividing the first week into two distinct phases. The first two days, 14 and 15 September, will give students the practical grounding they need to begin their studies, while the remainder of the week will shift from formal onboarding to participation in university life.

Freshmen will also attend an introductory session on MAHE Dubai's Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). The session will outline how the Centre encourages students to identify real-world problems, develop ideas and build practical entrepreneurial skills during their time at the university. Introducing CIE during the first week reflects MAHE Dubai's growing focus on entrepreneurship and startup culture as part of the wider student experience.

That transition does not begin with the first lecture; it begins from the moment they arrive on campus.”

“Our responsibility as educators is not simply to explain how the university works, but to help students see how they can become part of it. By the end of the week, we want every freshman to know where to seek support, how to explore their interests and the different ways in which they can contribute to life at MAHE Dubai. That is the foundation we want them to carry into the years ahead,” added Dr. Sudhindra.

Freshmen Orientation will open with a welcome from the university leadership, followed by a“From Legacy to Future” session connecting MAHE's educational heritage with its approach to innovation, leadership and lifelong learning. An interactive panel discussion with the Deans of MAHE Dubai's schools will provide students with information about academics, industry opportunities, student development and the wider university experience.

Students will also be introduced to the practical support available throughout their studies. Guided campus tours will familiarise them with key facilities, while dedicated sessions will cover wellbeing, counselling, academic support, student services and safety. Alumni engagement will give freshmen an opportunity to hear about career journeys, industry experiences, further education and life beyond university.

As a new addition to this year's programme, the university is introducing its Student Creator of the Semester competition, which is open to all MAHE Dubai students, including freshmen. Participants will create and publish content about student life at MAHE Dubai, using their own experiences and perspectives to show different aspects of the university community. The competition aims to encourage students to explore the creator economy and develop their ability to communicate through original digital content. The winner will receive a special prize.

From 16–18 September, the focus will move to shared campus experiences. MAHE Dubai Club Connect will allow freshmen to explore the university's cultural, sporting, creative and academic clubs, meet students with similar interests and discover opportunities to develop leadership skills. Talent and cultural shows, dance and music performances, games and icebreaker activities will create further opportunities for informal interaction among students, faculty, university leaders and student representatives.

The programme will also introduce students to opportunities beyond the classroom, including music, art and other creative and recreational programmes offered in collaboration with external academies.

Held under the theme“Break Boundaries. Belong. Begin.”, the Week of Welcome reflects MAHE Dubai's belief that university life should encourage students to move beyond the familiar, find their place within a new community and approach the next stage of their lives with confidence.“Break Boundaries” invites students to embrace new experiences;“Belong” represents the relationships that help them feel at home on campus; and“Begin” marks the start of a journey shaped by academic learning, personal growth, friendships and discovery. This emphasis on strong relationships and belonging also resonates with the UAE's Year of Family 2026, particularly as freshmen move beyond established support networks and begin forming new ones.

By the time the Week of Welcome concludes on 18 September, freshmen will have met the people who can support their academic progress, explored the communities and activities available to them, and gained a broader understanding of how they can shape their university experience beyond the classroom.
