Zelensky: Canada's Anti-Ballistic Sanctions Could Take Effect In October
“Canada is preparing several important packages of sanctions against Russia. First, it is important to accelerate the anti-ballistic sanctions. These are precisely the sanctions that will make it more difficult for Russia to produce ballistic missiles,” Zelensky said.
He noted that efforts should simultaneously be made to secure Patriot missiles and to increase pressure on every Russian enterprise and every Russian contractor in other countries that helps the aggressor state manufacture ballistic missiles.
“Canada is preparing such an anti-ballistic sanctions package for the fall. I want to thank them for this. We very much hope that the package will be accelerated so that it can take effect as early as October,” the President said.
Zelensky added that Ukraine's Foreign Ministry and sanctions coordinators are also working with other countries to introduce anti-ballistic sanctions.
“I thank Canada for imposing sanctions on all those individuals and all those enterprises that Russia uses to prevent the return of our Ukrainian children, stolen from our land, from our occupied cities and villages,” he said.
Zelensky noted that thousands of Ukrainian children remain in Russia and must be brought home. He expressed gratitude to Canada for supporting initiatives by Ukraine's First Lady aimed at returning and helping the children abducted by Russia adapt after their return.
