Jordan Offers Stable Base, Regional Market Access - Investment Minister

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Jordan offers investors a stable business environment, a skilled workforce, strong digital capabilities and access to regional and global markets, Investment Minister Tareq Abu Ghazaleh said Thursday.

In an interview with CNBC Arabia, Abu Ghazaleh said global developments have made investors more cautious, increasing the importance of stability and a clear economic vision.

He said the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV) provides successive governments with a clear framework for economic and investment policies, priorities and programmes.

Despite regional and global challenges, Jordan continues to record growth, particularly in the services sector, while seeking to turn challenges into investment opportunities, he said.

Abu Ghazaleh said that the Jordan-Europe Investment Conference, to be held next November under the Royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein, as an important step towards strengthening economic partnerships with Europe.

The conference will bring together investors, funds, financial institutions and companies to showcase bankable opportunities, particularly in infrastructure, energy, transport, trade corridors and technology, according to a statement by the Ministry of Investment.

He said Jordan's stability, strategic location, free trade agreements and links to regional and global markets position it to play a greater role in Arab economic integration and intra-regional trade.

Abu Ghazaleh highlighted the skills and entrepreneurial spirit of Jordanian workers, saying the Kingdom can serve as a production, export and regional management hub.

The minister said the number of foreign companies establishing centres in Jordan rose 23 per cent during the first half of the year.

He added that the government has moved towards more targeted investment incentives, including exemptions, lower tax rates and simplified and automated government services.

The Invest platform offers more than 120 investment opportunities across the Kingdom's governorates, as well as an investment calculator and an artificial intelligence-powered "Ask Me" service. Plans are also underway to integrate it with "Sanad for Business", he said.

Regarding reconstruction efforts in Syria, Abu Ghazaleh said Jordan is well positioned to serve as a regional hub, creating opportunities for Jordanian service, logistics and industrial companies while supporting employment, exports and regional economic cooperation.

He stressed that maximising these opportunities will require coordinated efforts among the government, private sector and financial institutions, according to the Ministry's statement.
