Higher Steering Committee Approves JD1.317M Rural Electrification Projects For August

Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) -- The Higher Steering Committee of the Rural Electrification Fund "Fils Al Reef" approved on Thursday electricity connection projects for 331 homes and sites, totaling JD1.317 million for August.

Committee Chair and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh stated that the approved list covers residential clusters and commercial activities under expanded eligibility guidelines, extending the reach of funded power connections across rural areas.

Director of the Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate Hesham Momani detailed the allocations, saying around JD470,000 is allocated to connect homes both inside and outside municipal planning boundaries.

The allocations also include JD96,000 to support livestock, poultry, and fish farms, as well as JD252,000 for farms with artesian wells located outside planning zones, supporting food security and local self-reliance.

Another JD336,000 is allocated to power industrial, tourism, and productive projects that contribute to local economic activity and create jobs for Jordanian citizens.

For public infrastructure, JD38,000 is allocated to supply government facilities with electricity, while JD21,000 is earmarked for lighting access roads leading to cemeteries.

The plan also includes JD49,000 to install grid-tied solar systems for 49 low-income households enrolled in the National Aid Fund, helping reduce their monthly electricity bills.

In addition, JD55,000 is allocated to upgrade transformer stations built over the past decade, with the aim of reducing power losses and addressing voltage drops.

The Ministry pledged its commitment to expanding coverage under Cabinet-approved guidelines and invited eligible households and businesses to apply for connection support.
