Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) - The Official Gazette officially published the newly endorsed Bylaw No. 63 of 2026 on Thursday, governing media spokespersons across government ministries, departments, and public institutions.

Under the new system, the Ministry of Government Communication will provide technical oversight and coordinate messaging practices among government spokespersons representing ministries, public institutions, and government departments.

The framework intends to ensure "consistent" official messaging operations, rapid response times, and effective crisis management across public agencies.

As per the regulation, state entities must appoint "qualified" spokespersons, based on specific job descriptions and competency standards. Candidates must pass knowledge tests, practical assessments at a competency evaluation center, and a formal job interview before appointment.

Appointed spokespersons will handle official statements, digital content creation, press briefings, crisis communications, media monitoring, and public inquiries.

They will also work "closely" with internal media units and the Ministry of Government Communication to ensure accurate, aligned messaging.

To maintain high performance standards, spokespersons will undergo periodic technical evaluations set by the Ministry of Government Communication, the Civil Service and Public Administration Commission, and individual departments. These assessments will directly influence whether an individual remains in their role.

Additionally, the ministry will provide "intensive" training programs covering digital media, public relations, and crisis management.
