Türkiye, Egypt Advance Joint Drone Sales Through New Deal

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Havelsan and Egypt’s Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) have reached a commercial agreement to begin selling the Hamza-1 unmanned aerial vehicle, marking a further step in their joint defense technology efforts.

The sales agreement was concluded during the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, building on the two organizations’ growing cooperation in unmanned systems.

Their partnership began taking shape under a cooperation agreement signed in August 2025, which established plans for producing vertical takeoff and landing drones within Egypt.

The Hamza-1 combines Havelsan’s expertise in autonomous systems with AOI’s domestic production capabilities. Havelsan also incorporated experience gained from developing its Baha, Bozbey, Poyraz and Bulut drone platforms into the new system.

The first Hamza-1 prototype was presented at the EDEX defense exhibition in Cairo late last year.

Following the latest commercial agreement, the partners are preparing to begin supplying the drone to customers, moving the platform from development toward market deployment.

The deal also reflects the expanding defense-industrial relationship between Türkiye and Egypt while supporting Havelsan’s broader approach of developing and producing defense technologies through international partnerships.
