Severe Flooding Disrupts Communities Across Bihar
(MENAFN) Flooding has affected more than four million people across Bihar in eastern India, with authorities warning that several areas remain at risk as rivers continue to rise.
A total of 4.3 million residents across 14 districts have been affected, according to official disaster management figures. Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Buxar are among the areas suffering the most severe consequences.
With multiple rivers still running above their danger levels, emergency assistance has been expanded across the affected districts. A total of 951 community kitchens are currently supplying meals to people impacted by the floods.
Authorities have also established 15 relief camps, where 11,255 displaced residents are receiving shelter, food, medical assistance and other essential services, according to reports.
Additional rescue and relief resources have been mobilized in anticipation of further flooding. Teams from both the State Disaster Response Force and the National Disaster Response Force have been positioned across several districts to respond quickly to emergencies.
India regularly faces intense monsoon rainfall between June and September, a seasonal pattern that frequently causes widespread flooding and significant damage to homes and other property.
Heavy rainfall since July has also caused flooding and landslides in various parts of the country, further intensifying the impact of the monsoon season.
