Russia, Ukraine Exchange Overnight Strikes, Leaving Several Casualties
(MENAFN) Russia and Ukraine report casualties following a fresh wave of overnight air attacks, with strikes hitting several areas on both sides amid the continuing conflict.
In Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said eight people sustained injuries after attacks damaged residential buildings and infrastructure in Kryvyi Rih and the Nikopol district.
Two people were killed and 20 others wounded when a Russian strike hit a shopping center in Sumy, according to regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov.
“Two men and a woman are in serious condition. Another woman is in critical condition. Among the injured are three girls aged 15-16. Their injuries range from minor to moderate. Doctors are providing all necessary care,” Hryhorov said.
Further damage was reported in the Kyiv region, where Regional State Administration head Tymur Tkachenko said three people were injured during Russian attacks over the previous 24 hours. Fastiv and Bucha districts suffered the heaviest damage, while 32 properties were affected across the region, including two industrial or warehouse sites.
In Mykolaiv, acting regional Governor Heorhii Reshetilov reported four deaths and 19 injuries following strikes on port facilities, industrial sites, and civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine’s Air Force said its air defense systems intercepted 128 of the 149 drones Russia launched during the night.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces carried out coordinated strikes targeting a drone storage facility in Mykolaiv along with infrastructure at a customs terminal distribution center in the port of Chornomorsk in Odesa region.
The ministry said the facilities were being used “for the benefit” of the Ukrainian military. It also claimed that two dry-cargo ships and a tugboat accompanying them were struck while sailing toward the port of Odesa.
