Air Assault Forces Explain What Motivates Foreign Volunteers To Defend Ukraine

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Major Vladyslav Stadnichenko, a senior officer with the Training Process Organization Section of the 199th Training Center of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“Foreigners choose the Air Assault Forces themselves. They contact the recruiting centers of our brigades or the 2nd Air Assault Forces Recruiting Center (located in Zhytomyr – ed.), where foreigners are screened and told about available positions. They then decide for themselves where and in what positions they want to serve,” Stadnichenko said.

According to him, every foreign volunteer has their own motivation for joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defending Ukraine.

“For example, Americans are motivated by the fight for justice. Representatives of Croatia believe there should be revenge. One Slovak said: if Ukraine falls, his country will be next. Many foreigners feel very sorry for Ukrainians,” the officer added.

In addition, some foreigners say they want to test themselves, compare the level of training in NATO countries and Ukraine, while others simply lack adrenaline.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine extended the period foreign volunteers may stay in Ukraine to allow them to regularize their legal status.
