Russia Forms Around 120 Assault Groups Near Orikhiv Military
According to him, the situation in the Orikhiv sector is difficult but under control. The line of contact has not changed.
“The only thing that has changed is the kill zone, which has grown significantly, and this is affecting our logistics. Orikhiv remains under our control, and the enemy's occasional attempts to infiltrate the city end only with us having to bring in additional forces and equipment from neighboring assault units to destroy them,” he said.
Skibchyk added that, at present, the enemy is unable to mass large numbers of troops on the outskirts of Orikhiv and disrupt Ukrainian military logistics in the area. However, the invaders have formed around 120 assault groups. The press officer of the 65th Velykyi Luh Brigade specified that these groups are forces of Russia's 58th Combined Arms Army, including the 19th and 42nd Motor Rifle Divisions.
“These groups consist of assault troops trained by the 98th Airborne Division and the 7th, 11th, and 104th Air Assault Brigades. This is a serious grouping. The enemy has massed around 150,000 troops, but that is not enough to claim any successes,” Skibchyk said.
Taking advantage of poor weather conditions and the expanded kill zone, the enemy occasionally manages to gather troops in basements, but Ukrainian Armed Forces units detect these enemy groups and destroy them.
