Ministry Of Education Boosts Staff Readiness For Expanded Kindergarten 1 Capacity

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has strengthened the readiness of its educational workforce for the“Rawda 1” (Kindergarten 1) stage as part of a strategic project to expand the capacity of government kindergartens and increase access to early childhood education.

The Ministry's Training and Development Centre, in cooperation with the Early Childhood Education Department, organised an intensive series of training workshops for educational staff working with Rawda 1 children. The programme aims to equip teachers and support staff with the knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality education and care for three-year-old children, while supporting their comprehensive development in line with their age-specific needs and approved educational policies.

The project is being implemented under the“Sunrise” Programme, overseen by the Early Childhood Education Department, as part of the Ministry's efforts to expand early childhood education opportunities and provide an appropriate, safe and supportive learning environment for three-year-olds.

The intensive training programme began last week ahead of the new academic year. The start of attendance for Rawda 1 children was postponed until this week to allow sufficient time to complete the training and ensure that the educational workforce is fully prepared to receive children and provide a safe and stimulating environment from their first day.

A total of 72 female trainees benefited from the programme. Of these, 52 participants completed the full 50-hour training programme, while 20 English-language coordinators and teachers received 10 hours of specialised training.

The programme covered coordinators and kindergarten teachers, assistant teachers and nurses. The participation of nurses in workshops addressing the characteristics of the age group and children's rights was designed to strengthen coordination among different members of the workforce and support the provision of integrated educational, health and care services.

The training programme comprised 10 specialised workshops covering the health, educational, developmental and pedagogical aspects of working with Rawda 1 children.

The first workshop,“Their Health and Safety First,” was delivered by the Training Department at Hamad Medical Corporation. It focused on equipping teachers with the knowledge and practical skills required to provide first aid to kindergarten children and maintain a safe and healthy environment.

The second workshop,“Comprehensive and Integrated Care,” delivered by trainers from the Training and Development Department, addressed the rights of three-year-old children and best practices for providing integrated care. Topics included proper nutrition, mental health, safe play and protection from harm, with the aim of supporting children's healthy and balanced development.
