QFFD Attends Preparatory Meeting For Midterm Review Of Doha Programme Of Action
Doha, Qatar: Director General of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) Fahad bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti participated virtually in the Africa Ministerial Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Midterm Review of the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on September 8–9, 2026.
The meeting brought together African Least Developed Countries and international and regional partners to assess progress in implementing the Doha Programme of Action and to merge regional priorities ahead of the High-Level Midterm Comprehensive Review Summit of the Doha Programme of Action.
Discussions highlighted the structural and financial challenges facing African Least Developed Countries, including widening financing gaps, constrained fiscal space, rising debt burdens, climate-related vulnerabilities, and the need to strengthen productive capacities and resilience while advancing sustainable graduation.
During his intervention, Al-Sulaiti underscored the importance of bridging financing gaps and strengthening international partnerships to support sustainable development and graduation in Least Developed Countries. He highlighted the need to mobilise innovative and flexible financing solutions that can expand productive capacities, strengthen economic resilience, and safeguard hard-won development gains.
He further emphasised the importance of strengthened international cooperation and partnerships in supporting countries throughout their development and graduation pathways, including through predictable, long-term financing that responds to evolving development needs.
