Since last year, Syria has been resuming operations at electricity-generating power plants. Part of the Banias plant resumed operations at the end of last year following a complete overhaul. Investments in the electricity sector are enabling the country to generate more power in a more stable manner. As of 2025, the Banias plant had only one of its four generating units in operation.
