Moa Wolff
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Family Medicine and Community Medicine, Lund University
I am a postdoctoral fellow, general practitioner and researcher in family medicine.
In my 2016 dissertation, I evaluated yoga as a treatment method for high blood pressure in primary care patients. Since then, I have continued to conduct general medical research, focusing on non-pharmacological treatments for high blood pressure. From 2020 to 2023, together with colleagues, I conducted a multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) to investigate whether SMS lifestyle advice can reduce blood pressure and cardiovascular risk in patients with hypertension.
I am also co-supervisor for a doctoral student who is examining the effect of using ECG-generated heart age to inform patients with hypertension about their cardiovascular risk.
In recent years, I have become increasingly interested in iron deficiency in adolescents and how it affects their well-being. Throughout the 2000s, several international studies have shown a link between iron deficiency (even without anemia) and fatigue, reduced cognitive function, and impaired health. In the autumn of 2023, together with research colleagues, I conducted a cross-sectional study involving 486 high school girls in Malmö and Lund to map the prevalence of iron deficiency. Currently, we are working on analyzing the relationship between iron deficiency and diet, menstruation, and fatigue in this population. Over the coming years, I plan to further delve into the field of iron deficiency and have plans to conduct a randomized controlled treatment study.
