Farm In Mykolaiv Region Produces Phyto Honey From Mined Fields

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This is reported in an Ukrinform publication titled“Craft business during war: honey from mined fields, lavender coffee and identity”.

“Our family farm, located on the border with Kherson region, produces honey from mined fields. It offers not only classic varieties - wildflower, rapeseed, sunflower - but also phyto‐honey, infused with medicinal herbs or fruits such as mint, lavender, wormwood and jalapeño peppers,” said co‐owner Yakiv Fedosov, PhD in Agricultural Sciences.

He noted that such honey is slightly more expensive because production is more labor‐intensive, but it is in demand among gourmets.

Fedosov grew up on a beekeeping farm, continuing the family tradition started by his father and developing it with modern trends.

At the start of Russia's full‐scale invasion, hostilities occurred in the village, their house was destroyed and the farm damaged. The family was forced to leave but later returned.

“The surrounding land remained contaminated with explosive devices, making farming impossible. But when we began restoring the farm, we realized bees could still collect honey even from mined fields. There is symbolism in this - like the bees, we continue our work despite any challenges,” Fedosov said.

He added that today consumers are interested not only in the product itself but also in its story, original recipes and packaging.

As reported, 1,175 entrepreneurs have returned or relocated to Mykolaiv region since the start of the war.
