Dynamic Creatures Launches Interactive Robots With Boston Dynamics Partnership
The Boston-based company has also been named Boston Dynamics' official entertainment and hospitality partner and says it is already working with a large theme park and retailer on guest-facing robotic character experiences.
Dynamic Creatures was co-founded by CEO Marc Theermann, former chief strategy officer at Boston Dynamics and a former senior leader at Google, and CTO Farbod Farshidian, a former research leader at the Robotics and AI Institute.
“At Boston Dynamics, I saw what becomes possible when advanced robotics moves from breakthrough research to reliable commercial systems,” says Theermann.
“We founded Dynamic Creatures to bring that capability into guest-facing environments. Our characters do more than perform for a crowd. They can respond to an individual and create small moments of wonder that people remember.”
The company is positioning its technology between traditional stationary animatronics and task-oriented service robots. Its mobile characters are designed to move through commercial environments, perceive their surroundings and adapt their behavior during interactions with individual guests.
Dynamic Creatures is also launching SnowJay, an integrated AI and robotics platform that combines robotics, learning-based control, real-time perception, behavioral programming, character design and costuming.
The company says robots based on existing platforms can be deployed within months and offered through leasing models, while customers can also commission fully original robots designed around specific brands, environments and stories.
Dynamic Creatures is backed by Eniac Ventures, Kindred Ventures, Heliad, Sunshine Lake and BlueGrass Ventures, alongside strategic angel investors Marc Raibert and Lukas Ziegler.
Initially, the company is targeting theme parks, hotels and resorts, casinos, museums, cruise ships and live venues, with potential future applications in luxury retail and automotive brand experience centers.
