Royals Arrive By Bus For King Harald V's Funeral
COPENHAGEN, Sept 9 (NNN-dpa) -- Numerous European royals are travelling to Oslo for the state funeral of King Harald V of Norway on Wednesday, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
They are, of course, used to pomp and ceremony, but on this occasion the royals – including King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, and King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden – were picked up from the Norwegian capital's airport by bus.
Monarchs and other members of European royal families, as well as heads of state, have travelled to Norway to pay their last respects to the king, who was exceptionally popular with his people.
Under the curious gaze of crowds of onlookers, many guests of honour were accommodated at Oslo's Grand Hotel in the city centre.
Prince William is representing the United Kingdom at the funeral, accompanied by Princess Anne, the sister of King Charles III.
At midday, the coffin will be taken to the Cathedral in a solemn procession.
King Harald V, who was 89, died in hospital on August 28 following an infection.
