Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) -- Saudi Arabia and Bahrain on Wednesday condemned continued Iranian attacks on the Kingdom, calling for an immediate halt to the strikes and reaffirming their support for measures taken to protect its sovereignty and security.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks "in the strongest terms," describing them as unprovoked and unjustified and reiterating its solidarity with the Kingdom and its people.

It said the attacks constituted a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of good-neighborly relations, stressing the need for an immediate end to Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and other countries in the region.

Riyadh also called for serious steps toward de-escalation and the preservation of regional security and stability.

In a separate statement, Bahrain's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned continued Iranian ballistic missile attacks on the Kingdom, saying they violated international law, the UN Charter and Security Council Resolution 2817 and posed a threat to regional security and stability.

Manama urged the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take firm measures to compel Iran to halt attacks against countries in the region, saying such action was necessary to reduce tensions and safeguard regional peace and security.

Bahrain also praised the vigilance of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army's air defense systems and their ability to intercept incoming missiles and counter the attacks.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain reaffirmed their full solidarity with the Kingdom and their support for measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability and protect citizens and residents.
