Israel Revises West Bank State Land Boundaries
(MENAFN) Israeli authorities have changed the boundaries of a “state land” designation issued in the occupied West Bank more than four decades ago, incorporating nearly 194 dunams (48 acres) of Palestinian land near the villages of Jalud and Al-Mughayyir, according to reports.
The revised boundaries include 193.93 dunams (47.9 acres) that were not part of the original declaration issued in 1984. At the same time, 15.07 dunams (3.72 acres) have been removed from the previous designation, while another 1,433.85 dunams (354 acres) remain unaffected.
The changes result in a net addition of roughly 179 dunams (44 acres) to the designated area.
The revision does not itself expand the area under a settlement’s control or influence. However, the newly incorporated land could become eligible for future planning or allocation processes.
Jalud lies southeast of Nablus, while Al-Mughayyir is situated northeast of Ramallah. The surrounding area has experienced continued expansion of settlements and outposts, alongside restrictions affecting Palestinian agricultural and grazing lands.
The latest move forms part of a wider approach used by Israeli authorities to regulate and take control of Palestinian land through mechanisms including “state land” and “government property” declarations, confiscation and expropriation orders, as well as changes to settlement jurisdiction and boundary lines.
