US Strikes Iranian Oil Tankers Near Gulf Ports
(MENAFN) US missile strikes reportedly hit Iranian oil tankers near Kharg Island and Jask Port late Tuesday, while the crews were evacuated safely, according to reports.
A small Iranian oil tanker was initially reported to have been struck roughly four nautical miles (7.4 kilometers) from Kharg Island. No casualties were immediately reported following the incident.
The vessel was reportedly hit by a projectile launched by US forces while it was in the anchorage area near the island. Local sources said nobody was injured and confirmed that the crew was being taken off the tanker.
Further reports later indicated that two oil tankers came under attack near the coast of Jask, with their crews transported toward shore.
An observer on the Jask coast said another tanker was targeted in waters near the port after a separate vessel had come under attack nearby.
The crews of both tankers were reportedly being brought to the Jask coastline aboard lifeboats.
