Education Ministry Reviews Educational Priorities For 2026-27

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has held its periodic meeting with government school principals to review preparations, strategic priorities and operational plans for the 2026-2027 academic year, with the participation of more than 250 government school principals representing various educational stages.

The meeting was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, along with senior ministry officials and educational sector leaders.

Opening the meeting, Dr. Al Nuaimi outlined the ministry's roadmap for the new academic year, highlighting its strategic focus on strengthening education quality and ensuring sustainable educational outcomes.

He identified teacher empowerment and improving student performance as the two central pillars of Qatar's education mission, stressing the importance of creating school environments that encourage innovation and continuously investing in the professional development of teaching and administrative staff.

Dr. Al Nuaimi also called for reducing routine administrative burdens so that school leaders and teachers can focus more closely on classroom learning. He said the true measure of a school's success is its impact on students' character development and knowledge, while also stressing the importance of establishing effective and early communication with parents.

Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Ibrahim Abdullah Rashid Al Muhannadi, said the ministry's next phase of work would be built around partnership, teamwork and deeper engagement with educators in the field.

He emphasised that genuine success should ultimately be measured by what reaches students inside schools, describing schools as the heart and compass of the educational process. He also highlighted efforts to reduce non-educational workloads on teachers, while ensuring schools remain safe, engaging environments that earn parents' confidence and strike a balance between discipline and a strong sense of belonging.

The meeting also featured comprehensive presentations by departments within the Educational Affairs Sector on their operational plans and academic initiatives for the new school year.

Officials additionally reviewed field readiness, including the preparation of school facilities, furniture and essential supplies, as part of efforts to ensure the smooth and stable launch of the 2026-2027 academic year.

The meeting concluded with an extended question-and-answer session, allowing school principals to engage directly with ministry leaders and discuss a range of educational and operational issues.

The session was aimed at strengthening transparency, improving coordination and ensuring closer integration between schools and the ministry's central sectors as preparations continue for the new academic year.
