Qatar To Host Arab Network For Quality Assurance In Higher Education Forum In October

Doha, Qatar: Qatar will host the seventh edition of the Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ANQAHE) Forum on October 7 and 8 under the patronage of Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater.

The forum, themed“Exploring Opportunities in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation,” will be jointly organised by the Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Qatar's National Qualifications and Academic Accreditation Committee, in cooperation with the US Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The announcement was made at a press conference by Professor Dr. Mazen Hassouna, Chairperson of the National Qualifications and Academic Accreditation Committee, held at the permanent headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Professor Dr. Tariq Al-Sindi, Secretary-General of the Arab Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, attended the press conference.

Dr. Hassouna said the forum is expected to bring together around 400 academics, quality assurance experts, researchers, decision-makers and university presidents from 11 Arab and foreign countries.

The programme will feature 56 peer-reviewed research papers, four specialised workshops and high-level dialogue sessions addressing major challenges and opportunities shaping the future of academic accreditation and quality assurance in higher education institutions.

He noted that the forum will feature prominent regional and international organisations, including the Association of Arab Universities, the US Council for Higher Education Accreditation, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE).

The participation of these organisations, he said, reflects the forum's growing status as an international platform for exchanging expertise and exploring the future of higher education amid rapid global transformation.

The forum will address a number of strategic themes, including academic integrity and authentic assessment in the era of generative artificial intelligence, the transition from procedural compliance to measuring the real impact of quality assurance, responsible AI governance, digital transformation and data analytics.

Other key themes include student and staff wellbeing, building supportive educational communities that promote human flourishing, graduate readiness for the labour market, and the resilience of quality assurance systems in responding to change and innovation. For his part, Dr. Al-Sindi expressed his appreciation to Qatar for hosting the forum, describing the current edition as exceptional in terms of the scale of interest and participation.

He said more than 600 academics and experts initially expressed interest in attending, before 400 participants were selected in accordance with established scientific criteria. The organising committee also received 12 proposals for workshops, of which four specialised workshops were approved.
