RSF Drone Attack Kills Ten Civilians in North Kordofan

(MENAFN) A drone strike blamed on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) hits a courthouse in Um Rawaba, North Kordofan, killing 10 people and leaving dozens more injured, according to reports from a Sudanese rights organization.

"The preliminary death toll from the attack stands at 10, with dozens injured," the Emergency Lawyers group said in a statement.

The incident raises fresh concerns about the protection of civilians and judicial personnel working in Sudan amid the ongoing conflict.

The rights group urges an immediate end to attacks targeting civilians as well as civilian and judicial institutions. It also calls for an independent and transparent investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the strike.

The RSF has not immediately responded to the allegations.

The latest attack comes amid a broader rise in deadly drone strikes across Sudan. The United Nations said on Aug. 24 that drone attacks had killed 1,100 civilians across the country between January and June.

Fighting has intensified across North, West and South Kordofan, where Sudanese army forces and the RSF have been engaged in repeated clashes since last October.
